SIR JOHN CHANDLER PARK

Public BBQ

This riverside sanctuary along the Brisbane River rewards those willing to navigate the narrow, winding road from St Lucia,a journey that keeps crowds at bay. The park sprawls across vast grassy expanses dotted with mature trees, where the river breeze provides natural air conditioning during Brisbane's sweltering days. Multiple sheltered areas house barbecue facilities, complemented by picnic tables positioned to capture river views. The playground, designed for the 3-6 age bracket, features swings and slides beneath shaded canopies, while water fountains punctuate the grounds. Parking proves adequate, though the single toilet near the entrance represents the park's only notable limitation. The location excels as a low-key gathering spot where families spread blankets and friends settle in for unhurried afternoons. Dog-friendly and impeccably maintained, it occupies that rare sweet spot between Indooroopilly Golf Club and the waterway, close enough to civilization, yet wonderfully removed from it.
